04.11.2005 : XML Infinity 3.0 given the green light
It is now official - the XML Infinity technology core has today been moved from Beta status at version 2.9 to live status at version 3.0
The new version of the XML Infinity Technology Core has been the biggest single overhaul to the XML Infinity Server system since it's inception in January 2003.
XML Infinity Chief Architect, Andrew Fisher said, "This was a ground up rebuild in every sense. The original system was built with firm XML underpinnings but the codebase was letting us down performance-wise because it was built on an architecture and programming language [ASP with Visual basic] designed for n-teir client-server work - not XML/XSL management and translation in a web environment.
"The new system is more friendly and is lightening quick to use. We have taken advantage of .NET's maturity at the right time building on the foundation we already had whilst letting Microsoft get their house in order [.NET is now at version 1.1].
"Threading was the fundamental change and I think 2006/7 will see a lot of companies going down this route. No more staring at a white screen wondering what is going on. We haven't benchmarked on the new AMD X2 chips yet but if we can do a 1000 object complex translation in under 40 seconds on a standard Intel P4 chip the X2s will absolutely fly."
Version 3 of the XML Infinity system also sees the roll out of the new XML Infinity branding which will lend itself to a nice woking environment for your digital hub. Transition Media Creative Director, Stephen Smart, came over to XML Infinity to help with the design and user experience side of things.
Steve says, "The XML Infinity product has now really matured and it was important to lend it some polish with this version. In the past it sufferred slightly for being a bit 'too techie' in its look and feel. Whilst it was important at the time to get the core technology working properly at this stage we need to marry a blinding piece of technology to a really simple and useful interface and hopefully this is what we have done.
"We have listened to things our clients were saying, and common questions people ask when they use the system for the first time and the HUB is really an answer to alot of these things - the ability to change or do many common tasks from one spot, like your start menu or Control Panel in Windows. The plan is that we will evolve the design now in line with the changes that are occurring on the technology side and keep streamlining the interface to make it as usable whilst powerful as possible."
Transition Media [the owners of the XML Infinity platform], director Paula Evennett says, "I am really pleased with the new version of this product. XML Infinity hasn't been at the core of Transition Media's business though it has been supported internally. Steve and Andrew and their teams have done a fantastic job of creating not only a tool that does a job but something that people can use easily and will revolutionise their online business."
The new design of the XML infinity system will be rolled out concurrently to the xmlinfinity.com web site as well.

16/04/2008 - London Mayoral campaign - why buy from abroad?
We would be the first company to say that the Internet is making communications easier and making virtual teams of people more simple to manage, however there is something inherently "right" about sitting down with a client working through a strategy to solve a problem rather than doing it exclusively by phone and email. We pride ourselves on working with our clients in very close partnership - our "one size doesn't fit all" mantra isn't just to do with how a CMS functions, it's to do with the very nature of the way our client's organisations operate. 11/04/2008 - Board-worx website live
This afternoon www.board-worx.com was launched after being developed using the XML Infinity Integral server. The Board Worx website is the most extended site currently managed by the XML Infinity System with over two dozen different product lines and over two thousand products currently managed within the system. This figure is set to grow significantly through 2008 as the summer season bring a constant stream of new products onto the site. Read more >>
