10.08.2005 : Suspect Packages partnership announced
Suspect Packages, the number one distributor of UK Hip Hop music has today signed to become an XML Infinity client.
Pete Rowland, Director of Suspect Packages said, "We were sick of the system we had as it was creaking from age and didn't work for where we wanted our business to go. It was fine when we were starting up but several years later it isn't scaling well so we decided to go with xml infinity as we believe it will last long into the future, suiting our business better."
As well as migrating the suspect packages system over to XML Infinity, a creative overhaul has also been called for, allowing a new design to be evolved for the site as well.
Stephen Smart, XML Infinity Creative Director said, "Our whole working process changes when we use the XML Infinity system. Rather than a traditional new media process where the designers sit and design then give the finished stuff to the techies, we can work along side them incredibly closely because the system makes it so quick to prototype things. In this way we evolve the design and development process together by virtue of having working code right from the outset with content in the system to play with.
"It is not uncommon to see designers and developers at the same computer working for long periods of time, evolving the look and feel and content model together. The system also allows for 'what if' situtations to be created and explored very quickly."
Suspect packages will be the first XML Infinity client to use the new order management components. Andrew Fisher, Technical Director explains, "Suspect Packages is what we call a 'borderline client'. Unlike some businesses who will derive masses of benefit from the XML Infinity system because of its content modelling aspects, Suspects would model 99% of their content in a database anyway, thus not having the key problems of data fragmentation and inability to manage it.
"Where Suspect Packages will get a huge penefit is in performance of their site. Currently they are being swamped by visitors in peak times due to database load. Settling the db structure or putting in meatier hardware would not solve the problem, just alleviate some of the symptoms which will recur as soon as load increases again. A full algorithm change will solve this issue, decreasing the database load to virtually nil.
"We have built a special component that deals especially with order management and processing so again all the key functions of the site are managed from within one base system - in this case XML Infinity".
The new suspect packages site is due to go live at christmas 2005.

16/04/2008 - London Mayoral campaign - why buy from abroad?
We would be the first company to say that the Internet is making communications easier and making virtual teams of people more simple to manage, however there is something inherently "right" about sitting down with a client working through a strategy to solve a problem rather than doing it exclusively by phone and email. We pride ourselves on working with our clients in very close partnership - our "one size doesn't fit all" mantra isn't just to do with how a CMS functions, it's to do with the very nature of the way our client's organisations operate. The Board Worx website is the most extended site currently managed by the XML Infinity System with over two dozen different product lines and over two thousand products currently managed within the system. This figure is set to grow significantly through 2008 as the summer season bring a constant stream of new products onto the site. Read more >>
