12.02.2007 : XML Infinity goes Polymorphic

Today a new release of XML Infinity was published onto the production environment which allows users to have fully polymorphic objects within their systems.

Polymorphism is an Object Oriented concept which allows information to be changed from one form to another. In human terms it allows computers, which typically deal in black and white cases, to deal with shades of grey.

Andrew Fisher, XML Infinity Chief Architect explains more, "This feature was built in response to work we've been doing on the board-worx system. Initially we allowed the system to subclass information. This means creating a base 'product' object and then being able to extend it into more specific versions to deal with particular product lines such as 'surf boards' or 'kite surfing boards'. Whilst similar, there are inherent differences which needed to be dealt with at a business and presentation level.

This is fine, but on the other end we needed to be able to refer to things that are 'products' even though they might really be 'kitesurfing boards' or 'surf boards'. The system now allows us to 'morph' an object from one form to another, letting us then do operations on 'kitesurfing boards' and 'surf boards' together.

We've also realised that in doing this we've created a whole new layer of sophistication previously unknown in most CMS' and certainly for those targetted primarily at SMEs."

16/04/2008 - London Mayoral campaign - why buy from abroad?

We would be the first company to say that the Internet is making communications easier and making virtual teams of people more simple to manage, however there is something inherently "right" about sitting down with a client working through a strategy to solve a problem rather than doing it exclusively by phone and email. We pride ourselves on working with our clients in very close partnership - our "one size doesn't fit all" mantra isn't just to do with how a CMS functions, it's to do with the very nature of the way our client's organisations operate.  Read more >>

11/04/2008 - Board-worx website live

This afternoon www.board-worx.com was launched after being developed using the XML Infinity Integral server. The Board Worx website is the most extended site currently managed by the XML Infinity System with over two dozen different product lines and over two thousand products currently managed within the system. This figure is set to grow significantly through 2008 as the summer season bring a constant stream of new products onto the site.  Read more >>
